Fr. Jorge Lopez will be leaving

Our Associate Pastor, Fr. Jorge Lopez will be leaving St. Justin’s for St. Wilfrid’s Parish on 30 June 2009. We will miss him terribly as he has contributed greatly to our parish family. We will have a farewell for Fr. Jorge on Sunday 21 June after the 12:30 Mass in our parish hall. All are welcome.

To all the married couples who were to be married by Fr. Jorge after June, please do not panic.  There will be a priest to officiate at your marriage.  He will call you to set up an appointment.

We also welcome Fr. Carlos Troya as our new Associate on 2 July 2009. Fr. Carlos will be handling Fr. Jorge’s weddings.

 

 

 

Vacation Bible Camp

July 13-17

The Camp is called “Crocodile Dock” and will run from July 13-17. It is for children aged 5-9 years. Pre-registration for the camp will begin on May30/31st after mass. We are looking for teenage volunteers who will earn community service hours for volunteering as camp councilors. For more information, contact Cale Clarke at extension 34.

9th PARISH ANNUAL BBQ:  This year’s parish picnic will be on 28 June 2009.  Ticket sales and volunteer sign-up will begin June 6/7 after mass.  Ticket price is $9.00 all inclusive.

Healing in Time –Bereavement Ministry

Are you grieving for the loss of a loved one? Do you know someone who is?  Grief can affect our emotions, our energy and our happiness. St. Justin’s Bereavement Support Group is about to begin a new eight week bereavement session. We will discuss the nature of grief, understanding its effects on us and how to manage our grief. Markham Interchurch Committee for Affordable Housing (MICAH): Annual General Meeting

Members of MICAH member churches, along with other members of the community, who are interested in the development of affordable housing in the Town of Markham, are invited to MICAH’s AGM. The agenda will include a PowerPoint presentation related to the progress of our new project, East Markham Non-Profit Homes, and information concerning the direction MICAH is taking related to a possible fourth development. MICAH is actively seeking members of the community with financial, administrative or other social service skills, who feel called to serve, in the future, on one of our committees and/or boards. We welcome members of all faith communities, and others to attend. It will be held on Tuesday, June 23 2009 at 7:30 PM at St. Patrick RC Church, 5633 Highway #7.
